2016 Dodge Viper ACR: described as 'the ultimate street legal race car' by the Sports Car Club of America

The Sports Car Club of America has crowned the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR as “the ultimate street legal race car” after it set new lap records in 13 different road courses, among them the high level Laguna Seca, Road Atlanta and Virginia International Raceway.

Overall, the vehicle seemed to be designed with this goal in mind as its features all contribute to becoming a high performance racer from its exterior to its interior build up, Ecumenical Times reported.

The vehicle, which boasts of an 8.4-liter handcrafted and all-aluminum V-10 overhead-valve engine, produces 645 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. The impact of this feature is further intensified by the the incorporation of the Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission.

The Viper’s speed is further boosted by aerodynamic and suspension upgrades, while its safety features include top of the line braking brought by the Brembo Carbon Ceramic Matrix brakes with six-piston Brembo calipers. The Kumho Ecsta V720 high-performance tires, which have proven to be 1.5 seconds faster than other tires also complement the high performance of the racer.

In terms of design, the Dodge Viper utilizes Alcantara suede on the instrument and door armrest panels as well as the steering wheel. A racing color stripe and ACR badging adds to its sleek racer look which is further accentuated by high grip seats and carbon fiber dashboard.
