2016 Chevy Camaro: new muscle car offers more powerful and full customization

The sixth generation of General Motor’s Chevrolet Camaro, the Chevy Camaro 2016, will be released in the last quarter of 2015. For those who are interested to get their hands on the muscle car, here’s a rundown of its specs, customizations, and price.

Under the hood, the 2016 Camaro can be powered by a 2.0L turbo, V8, or V6 engine. The 2.0L four cylinder engine is rated at 275 hp and 295 lb.-ft of torque and can go from zero to 60mph in less than 6 seconds. Meanwhile, the 3.6L V6 engine is rated at 335hp and 284 lb.-ft of torque. It has direct injection, variable valve timing, and 8-speed automatic active fuel management. The 6.2L V8 Camaro is the most powerful among the bunch at 455 hp and 455 lb.-ft of torque.

According to Edmunds.com, the sixth generation Camaro will be offered in SS and LT trim levels. The SS model will be equipped with LED taillights and 20-inch alloy wheels, while the LT edition will have standard 18-inch wheels with the 20-inch ones being optional. What’s more, there will be four drive modes available Tour, Snow/Ice, Sport, and Track on the SS model.

What makes the 2016 Chevy Camaro interesting is the customization. From body style to interiors, buyers can design their vehicle anyway they want. For instance, under body style, a person can choose from either a coupe or a convertible. As for colors, there will be ten choices such as Hyper Blue Metallic, Nightfall Gray Metallic, and Bright Yellow. The stripes can be customized as well into center stripe, rally stripes, or fender harsh marks. Of course, the cloth, leather, and knee pads of the interior can be changed as well.

In terms of how the Camaro will drive, Edmunds.com mentions that because the new model is about 200 pounds lighter and 30 percent more rigid than the previous models, it will be more responsive and handle quicker.

Starting at $25,000, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will be available in local dealers soon.
