The devil from Christmas past is set to make an appearance in season 8 episode 7 of The CW's supernatural TV series "The Vampire Diaries."
With the title "The Next Time I Hurt Somebody, It Could Be You," season 8 episode 7 will feature the characters celebrating — or at least trying to — the Christmas holiday. According to the episode's official synopsis, Stefan (Paul Wesley) will try his hardest to celebrate Christmas Eve with Caroline (Candice King) especially after his previous unsavory encounter with Cade (guest star Wole Parks).
However, things take a dark and twisted turn when their Christmas dinner gets crashed by Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Sybil (guest star Nathalie Kelley). They are also joined by Alaric (Matt Davis), Matt (Zach Roerig) and Peter (guest star Joel Gretsch).
Meanwhile, in a series of flashbacks to Stefan's past, Cade's attempts to entice him with his mysterious and suspicious agenda will lead to Stefan having to face a difficult and unimaginable decision.
Given that the eighth season of "The Vampire Diaries" would be its last, loyal viewers and fans of the show are still hoping for the possible return of actress Nina Dobrev to properly tie up the series' story. The topic of hell being brought to light on the show had some fans considering the possibility that Dobrev may be returning this season as the character Katherine.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Julie Plec was asked if Katherine is really in hell. In response, she said, "I confirm nothing, but the visual similarities are not accidental."
She also added, "Are they all doomed? Is there a chance for redemption? Can you earn your back out of a one-way ticket to hell? And even characters that have been heroes, are they already marked? If so, what the hell are they going to do about it?"
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 episode 7 will air on Friday, Dec. 9, at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
