To the comic book fans surprise, "Arrow" revealed that Atty. Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra) is Prometheus and not Vigilante. Now that his alter ego has been exposed, where is he heading in the TV series?
"Chase is going to give a lot of clarity to that soon," Segarra spoke to Entertainment Weekly recently.
In the episode titled "Fighting Fire with Fire," Chase was defending Mayor Oliver (Stephen Amell), also known as Green Arrow, during his impeachment trial after concealing Malone's death. Vigilante accused the mayor of corruption, and he's off to kill him, but Chase showed up as Prometheus and fought Vigilante. However, the latter is also aiming to kill Oliver.
Why would Chase befriend and protect his mortal enemy at first? It seems that the man behind the black mask plans to take part in psychological warfare.
"Chase wants to watch the world around Oliver crumble, he just wants to watch it crumble," Segarra revealed his character's motives towards Oliver.
As seen in the latest episode, Green Arrow threatened the attorney that he would expose his secret identity. In response, Chase stated that Prometheus kidnapped Susan (Carly Pope).
Chase is warning Oliver that he would take everyone that matters to him, says the actor who plays the villainous character.
"He has the checkmate in his brain, and he knows how he's going to get there, and we get to watch if this man gets there," Segarra stated and added that Chase would be okay if he's going to die in the end because "he's been planning for years, this is the endgame, this is the goal, and he's going to win it."
Furthermore, the 30-year-old actor hinted that Talia (Lexa Doig) knows the district attorney's past, and that is why he trained him to possess Oliver's abilities.
The 17th episode teaser video shows Oliver in prison while Chase tortures him. Will he ever get away from Chase's ruthlessness?
"Arrow" season 5 will return on March 22 on The CW.
